■Omotesando
Omotesando is a neighborhood in the Harajuku and Aoyama district. Its main street, Omotesando dori (Omotesando Avenue), stretches from Aoyama-dori to Harajuku station.
Originally, Omotesando was created as the approach to Meiji-jingu Shrine during the Meiji Era. Zelvoka trees line both side of this broad avenue.
Today, many tourists come this area to visit the flagship fashion showrooms designed by internationally renowned architects. Additionally, because of their unique atmosphere, the back streets of Omotesando are especially popular with the younger generation.

■Ginza
Ginza is named after the silver-coin mint established in the area in 1612 during Edo period.
Today, it is the largest shopping district in Japan and recognized as one of the most luxurious shopping destinations in the world. Although many upmarket fashion brand flagship stores with unique facades are located here, the street remains neatly organized because the architectural guidelines and restrictions imposed on development in Ginza.

■Roppongi
Roppongi is commonly believed to be named after six (roppon) trees (gi) that marked the area many years ago. Another legend claims that six daimyo lived in this area during the Edo period, and each had a tree bearing his name.
Today, although most people have the image of Roppongi as being the center for nightlife, it is also home to many shops, office towers, condominiums and foreign embassies. Two of the more famous recent developments in Roppongi include Roppongi Hills (2003) and Tokyo Midtown (2007).
